Scheduled events: one calendar for Discord and VRChat¶
LogDog's Events page lets you plan an event once and have LogDog post it to both platforms: a scheduled event in your Discord server and an entry on your VRChat group's calendar. Recurring series work too; LogDog keeps posting each upcoming date so your community always sees what's next, on whichever platform they actually open.
Events are managed on the dashboard: open app.logdog.gg, pick your server, and choose Events in the sidebar. Admins can create and edit; managers can view.
LogDog's calendar is the source of truth
Syncing covers events you create in LogDog. Events made natively in Discord or VRChat show up on the calendar too, but LogDog never edits or mirrors them. (They do count toward VRChat's own monthly limit, though. See below.)
Native events show up too¶
Events created directly in Discord (server scheduled events) and on your VRChat group's own calendar appear on the Events page automatically, alongside the ones LogDog manages, so the dashboard shows your community's whole schedule in one place. There is nothing to set up and no extra permission to grant: LogDog checks both platforms about every 15 minutes.
Imported events are easy to tell apart. On the calendar they render as muted, outlined entries rather than the solid colours of LogDog's own series, and in the upcoming list each one carries a Discord or VRChat tag naming where it came from. Clicking one opens a read-only summary with its time, location, and description.
A few things to know:
- LogDog never edits, moves, or deletes a native event, and nothing you do in LogDog will touch one. To change it, edit it where it was created: Discord's event list, or your group's calendar in VRChat.
- Events LogDog posted itself are not shown twice. You'll see them once, as the editable LogDog event.
- When a native event is deleted or ends on its platform, it disappears from the dashboard on the next check.
If you find yourself maintaining the same event on both platforms by hand, that's the cue to create it in LogDog instead: one edit updates both copies, and recurring series repost themselves.
What LogDog needs first¶
Two permissions, one per platform:
- Discord: Create Events. Servers that invited LogDog before this feature launched won't have it yet. Either re-invite the bot with the invite link (safe: re-inviting never removes the bot or your setup) or add Create Events to LogDog's role in your server settings. Until it's granted, each upcoming date shows a note on the Events page saying exactly this, and everything catches up automatically once granted.
- VRChat: Manage Calendar. Grant it to LogDog's role in your VRChat group's role settings, the same place you granted audit-log access during setup. Diagnostics on the dashboard shows a live check.
Events without the mirror enabled for a platform simply skip it: you can run Discord-only or VRChat-only events per event.
Creating an event¶
Click New event, or click any future day on the calendar to start from that date. The editor asks for:
- Title, description, cover image URL. The image appears on the Discord event only. VRChat shows your group's banner; VRChat does not let bots upload per-event images.
- Date, start time, duration, timezone. Times are entered in the timezone you pick, and every LogDog surface shows the event in that timezone.
- Repeats. One-off, daily, weekly (pick weekdays), or monthly, with an end date.
- Discord event. Held in a voice channel, or "Somewhere else" with a free-text location.
- VRChat event. Category, visibility (public or group-only), and whether VRChat notifies your group members. The default notifies on the first date of a series only, so a weekly event doesn't ping your group every week.
- Playlist for event worlds. Optional. Link one of your world playlists and LogDog can suggest three worlds from it to your staff channel ahead of each date.
Saved events appear on the calendar with a colour per series, and the upcoming list shows each date with its per-platform sync status.
Past events¶
The Past tab on the Events page lists every night that has run, newest first, with the peak number of players LogDog counted across your group's instances during the event window and a link to the night's turnout page. A one-off event moves there as soon as it finishes, and a series that reaches its end date keeps all of its nights there. Ended events also keep their chips on the calendar for the 60 days the calendar looks back (opening one shows its nights, read-only), so nothing "disappears" the moment it ends. Cancelled nights are listed and marked as cancelled. The tab covers events LogDog scheduled; imported VRChat and Discord events are read live from their platforms and are not kept once they pass (their turnout still appears on the instance stats page's event table while they are recent).
The headcount is written shortly after the night ends (it reads "Counting" until then) and is kept with the night for good, so it stays even after the detailed occupancy curves age out. A dash means no group instance was open during the event; approx means some readings counted group members only.
LogDog never deletes event history. Free servers see the last 90 days on the Past tab; Premium shows everything the server has ever run, including nights from before the upgrade.
Free and Premium limits¶
| Free | Premium | |
|---|---|---|
| One-off events | Unlimited, any date | Unlimited, any date |
| Recurring series | 3 at a time | Unlimited |
| Series can schedule ahead | 3 months | 1 year |
| Past events history | Last 90 days | Everything, kept for good |
A week before any series reaches its end date, LogDog reminds you (notification bell plus one channel message) so you can extend it with one click. Ended and one-off events past their date stop counting against the series limit.
How syncing works¶
LogDog posts each date to the platforms about 4 weeks before it happens. That's deliberate: platforms cap how many events a server or group can hold, so a year-long weekly series appears on Discord and VRChat as a rolling window of the next few dates rather than 52 at once. Farther dates show as "Scheduled" in LogDog and post when their window opens.
New events and edits usually reach Discord within seconds and VRChat within a few minutes. Each date on an event's page shows its live status per platform, including:
- Synced: live on the platform.
- Slow: the platform is responding slowly right now; LogDog is retrying and the date posts as soon as it answers. This clears on its own.
- Failed: the platform refused or stopped responding, with the reason shown. LogDog keeps retrying failures periodically; permission problems fix themselves once the permission is granted.
VRChat allows 100 events per group per month
That's VRChat's own limit, and natively created events count against it too. LogDog tracks your usage, warns you as you approach the cap, and if it's reached, holds remaining dates until the month rolls over rather than failing them. A daily series alone uses about 30 per month.
Editing and moving events¶
Edit from the event's page (or the calendar). Changes to the title, description, image, or platform settings update the already-posted copies in place.
Changing the start time or date works differently: the old posted copy is removed and a new one is created at the new time. On Discord this means people who marked themselves "Interested" on the old copy need to do so again, and on VRChat the new copy costs one event from the monthly limit. Worth knowing before nudging a popular event's time back and forth.
If someone deletes a LogDog-posted copy directly on a platform, LogDog treats it as a cancellation and removes the other platform's copy too, so the two sides never disagree about whether an event is happening. Edits made directly to a posted copy are not synced back; make changes in LogDog so both platforms stay consistent.
Templates¶
Save as template in the editor stores an event's setup (up to 10 per server) for one-click reuse via Templates or the editor's Start from template. Templates are copies; using or deleting one never touches live events.
Cancelling and ending¶
- Cancel a single date from the event's page. The posted copies are removed on both platforms; the rest of the series is untouched.
- End a series from the danger zone on the event's page. Remaining posted copies are removed and no further dates post.
If you change your VRChat group¶
If you re-run setup and connect a different VRChat group, your events pause rather than posting into the new group unannounced: a new group means its own event limit and its own members to notify, so that's your call. The Events page shows the paused series with per-series Resume or End buttons (and resume-all). Reconnecting the same group resumes everything automatically.
